Pop Muzik

Yesterday the Singing Custodian entered Sector 7G Marketing belting out his rendition of the Beatles' "Michelle". He's an older fellow, so I was surprised he liked the Fab Four and said so.

"Well, at first I didn't like them, with their long hair and all. But they did some very good songs."

It's funny how pop music has changed. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, look how far it's degraded. You don't even have to be able to sing today, as long as you're hot, they can fix your vocals in the studio.

Also notice how our perspective of what constitutes long has has changed.

Hippy freaks! I know what you're saying, I'm starting to sound like my dad. These kids today, you call that music? But then, I'm strange; I also like the very early Sinatra, which my father, who worships Frank, doesn't really go for.
I don't feel too old yet, though, because I like the White Stripes, Green Day, and Puddle of Mudd, among others. There's even a new documentary tearing up the film festivals called "Gigantic", about my favorite band ever, 'They Might Be Giants'!

I actually think new music in general is better than it was 10 years ago. If we could only get rid of rap, the world would be a better place.
You kids get off my lawn!
You know I was thinking about the song yesterday myself.

I know, I read your blog entry right before I wrote mine!
