Gilderoy Lockheart's Alter Ego

Currently up for auction on E-Bay is a surcoat from Branagh's Henry V. This is more proof that you can buy just about anything on that highly addictive web site. Because I'm an avid costumer, I'm posting some closeups from the auction, for posterity's sake.

mmm...goldwork
yummy!

And, because I love this movie and really dig Branagh in general, I give you this. Much more butch than he was in the second Harry Potter flick.

This surcoat is proof of my theory that almost all clothing stems from tunic form. Ornamentation, color blocking, and attitude are what make it fly or dorky, as the case may be. For the record, I have never thought that Branagh was at all butch or attractive. Give me Gabriel Burne I say!

Sid
I think he's at his most butch in Henry V. The rest of the time, his plus is that he's tres Shakespearian - what can I say, I majored in English Lit!
So, it's a safe bet then that you are not silvertankard on E-bay, then? To think, the opening bid was a measely $253.53.

"Look honey, I got you a tabard for Christmas, except Kenneth Brannagh wore it in Henry V and we probably should put it up on the wall or in a glass case or something."

How would you display a conversation piece like that?
I'd be wearing it!
The bid is now at $1,146.25 - and that's not the minimum price the seller will accept! That IS out of my price range. One thing's for sure, I'd never wear it to an SCA event!
Wow, someone call my squire; Christmas is coming.
